You ask any person who have been
to New York and its adjacent regions and they will tell you about its pomp,
super fast lifestyle, various tourist attractions and amazingly attractive
nightlife. I would say the city has all of these but it has got more charms for
visitors. The city, often known as the home to the bigwigs in politics and
showbiz, also has several exquisite eating joints of various types. I had the
chance to explore some of the topmost eating places in the city last year when
I went for a vacation with my cousin Linda.
After graduating from New York University
of Architecture she has been staying in Brooklyn for quite some time. She
played the perfect guide to the top places foodies must explore in NYC during
my tour. She advised me to leave behind bright lights of Times Square and go to
downtown. You will not get the opulence and pomp found in Central Park adjacent
eating joints but the food and ambience would be worth your time and money.
We went to 21 Club, which is a part of US history. The stalwarts like Ernest Hemingway and Elizabeth Taylor partied here in their heydays! If you want an eating place with a blend of pure etiquette and old world charm, head to Peter Luger's in Brooklyn. The wooden floors evoke an old world charm and waiters take order in a pad of paper. It does look formal but some people like it that way!
If you have a weakness for
seafood, make sure you visit Grand Central Oyster Bar once during your NYC
tour. We enjoyed the oyster dishes there to the hilt. For experiencing the
traces of US history and culture, include places like Keens Steakhouse and Fraunce's
Tavern in your food tour.
